Councillors and staff in Prince Edward County will hear a report citing results of a recent survey undertaken in the municipality.
Judith Burfoot will present the results of a survey taken by the All Welcome Here Rural BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) Association on Tuesday night as part of their regular council meeting.
There were 106 responses and 43 full surveys completed.
Of those who responded, three out of four stated they have experienced racism in Prince Edward County and over two-thirds of respondents said the racism is worse than their previous home.
The survey was undertaken to help identify problems and target solutions as the BIPOC community grows in PEC.
The presentation to council shows the survey focused on four main areas: basic demographic information, racial information about the household, experiences in Prince Edward County and what the BIPOC community needs/wants from All Welcome Here.
The group was founded in 2018 and received $4,000 in municipal grant funding in 2020.
Council meets at 7 p.m. virtually.
