Statistics Canada has released population growth figures from the 2021 census that shows the Quinte region growing at a faster pace than either the province or the country as a whole.
The Belleville Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) grew by 7.5% between 2016 and last year, up to a total of 111,184 people.
In 2016 the population was 103,401.
The Belleville CMA consists of the city of Belleville, Quinte West, Tyendinaga/Deseronto, and Stirling-Rawdon.
Ontario’s population increased by 5.8% to 14,223,942.
Canada’s population increased 5.2% to 36,991,981.
