Golden Hawks release updated season schedule

In the last 40 days the Trenton Golden Hawks have played just one game.  The COVID pandemic once again brought hockey to a stop in the Ontario Junior Hockey League however not for long.  The Golden Hawks return to the ice at the “Dunc.”

“We missed a lot of hockey due to the pandemic, however we are excited to get back onto the ice Monday (January 31),” says Coach/GM Peter Goulet.  “It was great the league extended the end of the season, which will allow us to get a full season in.”

Director of Operations John McDonald, who assembled the schedule says, “We are going to see a lot of action in a short amount of time.  We must play 25 games in 59 days, including  stretches of 7 in 12 and 7 in 9.  Our focus through the remainder of the regular season is to rack up wins and keep healthy.”

The Golden Hawks are back on the ice next week with a mini camp to get players back into routine and game shape.  Their first game is set for Friday February 4, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. against Cobourg.

Director of Business Tim Durkin says, “There are new COVID screening procedures in place for the first game.  The government is now requiring a QR code to enter the arena.  The QR code will be scanned by security officials hired by the City of Quinte West.  This code will be your new Proof of Vaccination.  You can print your QR code or display it on your phone.  You will sign in for contact tracing and be required to wear your mask, just as before.  Food and drink will slowly be reintroduced however not allowed right away (dietary/medical requirements will be granted).”  He added, “We do not like the restrictions any more than anyone else, however, to put our guys back on the ice, we will need to respect them.”

McDonald added those who have tickets for single games that were postponed, you can use them for the rescheduled date.

There is a 500 seat capacity limit until February 21, when it will go to 574.
