Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has named its next Superintendent of Education.
Darren McFarlane replaces Laina Andrews who is retiring.
Since 2003, McFarlane has served as a principal and vice-principal at secondary schools in Prince Edward County, Trenton and Central Hastings and most recently was a system lead at the Education Centre responsible for safe schools, supporting the Special Education and Equity portfolios.
Director of Education Katherine MacIver says McFarlane’s work and dedication to equity and achievement will be an asset.
McFarlane says the board serves a diverse range of students and families and he is looking forward to further engaging with their highly skilled, dedicated and caring teaching and support staff.
He takes over the position February 1.
