A family of four in Cramahe Township is now homeless after a fire consumed their home in the early morning hours on Monday.
According to Today’s Northumberland firefighters from Cramahe Township, Trent Hills and Alnwick-Haldimand Township were called at approximately 5:30 a.m. for reports of a house fire north of Castleton.
The call came during the worst of the snow storm that rocked southern Ontario and emergency responders were unable to save the house from the blaze.
Fire officials say the fire is not being deemed suspicious and is suspected to have started in the area of the wood stove.
The family was not able to escape with any belongings and have lost everything and a GoFundMe has been started by a family friend to help them get back on their feet.
Donations of food, clothing, money or anything else helpful to the family are being accepted at K9 Fit at 14352 County Road 2 Brighton and Kawartha Vision Care at 9 Elgin st east Cobourg.
