With a few exceptions, Quinte Health Care is temporarily pausing all visitor and care partner access to several units at Belleville General Hospital to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Effective Tuesday, all visitor and care partner access will be paused at Quinte 6 and Sills 3 where there are current outbreaks, and Quinte 5 and Sills 4 which are both currently on COVID-watch.
There will be a few exceptions including end of life situations.
Since mid-December, Quinte Health Care has been requiring negative Rapid Antigen Tests from visitors at the door before they enter the hospital however, over the past few days there has been an increase in the number of visitors and care partners testing positive and being refused entry.
Hospital officials say this creates an added risk to patients as the time in which the virus can be spread starts before a positive test result occurs.
Virtual social visits can be set up by contacting virtualvisit@qhc.on.ca directly or by calling the Patient Experience direct line at 613-969-7400 extension 2033.
All units at QHC hospitals that are not in outbreak remain under the Phase 3: Red level of the care partner and visiting policy. Please visit https://www.qhc.on.ca/visiting-hours-p12.php for more information.
