A Quinte West OPP officer was assaulted while checking on a disabled vehicle on Highway 401 Saturday afternoon.
Officers were westbound near Wallbridge Loyalist Road and stopped to assist a motorist who appeared to be refuelling a vehicle.
While speaking with him, the driver allegedly began to fight with the officers, resulting in one of them being assaulted.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jugalkishore Palod of Barrie is charged with resist peace officer, assault with intent to resist arrest and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 17, 2022.
