Quinte Health Care has announced that there is an outbreak of COVID-19 in Belleville General Hospital’s emergency department.
According to a press release Thursday the outbreak is currently linked to only two employees and occurred during a break in PPE in the break room.
The affected staff members are home and self-isolating.
Representatives of Quinte Health Care stressed that the hospital is still a safe place to visit and not to avoid going if you need emergency care as there has only been transmission between staff members.
Contact tracing including patients who were cared for by these staff members is underway and staff in the unit will be tested for COVID-19.
