Active cases of COVID-19 have surged to more than 400 in Hastings Prince Edward with another 104 new cases Wednesday.
With 43 recoveries, there are now 422 active cases.
The Hastings Prince Edward Public Health dashboard shows 49 cases are unvaccinated, 44 fully vaccinated and 11 partially.
The majority of cases continues to be among those 18 to 29 with 31 of today’s new cases and 93 of all active cases from that age group.
Forty cases are located in Belleville and 22 in North Hastings.
Prince Edward County has 14, Quinte West 11, with nine in Central Hastings and just one in Deseronto/Tyendinaga.
The number of people in hospital has decreased since Tuesday, down to 10 from 12.
Five people remain in the ICU.
There are still 27 active outbreaks.
Eighty-five percent of HPE residents aged five and up have received a first dose of a COVID vaccine.
Second doses have been delivered to 79% of the population.
Cases also climbing in Northumberland where 26 new cases were confirmed Wednesday.
The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported 85 active cases.
