The much anticipated new Catharine Street footbridge over the Moira River in Belleville’s Downtown District is coming into place.
Part of the span, including decorative arches, is being installed after having arrived in one section aboard a large flatbed truck Monday.
Manager of Engineering Ray Ford says they weren’t expecting the spans to arrive until the new year.
There is no firm date of delivery yet for the second span.
Ford says the project is a little ahead of schedule but they still expect the work, with a budget of $3.9 million, to be complete in mid-2022.
