A raging windstorm and the pivot from an in-person event to a virtual one couldn’t stop the Belleville General Hospital Foundation Annual Winter Wonderland Gala.
Organizers say Saturday night’s event raised a record $739,735.
Staff had only four days to plan after deciding to change the gala to a virtual format due to a rise in local COVID cases.
BGHF Executive Director Steve Cook says this brings them very close to reaching their $2.9 million goal on the two-year Nuclear Medicine Camera Campaign.
BGHF Finance Chair Peter Knudsen says with $76,000 to go, they are hopeful to meet the goal by the end of the year.
The gala featured a touching tribute to well-known philanthropist and community builder Maurice Rollins, who passed away earlier this year and music by international acclaimed band – Montreal Rhapsody Orchestra.
