Employees at Procter and Gamble Belleville have once again stepped up for the United Way.
On Monday Procter and Gamble presented a cheque for $260,000 to the United Way Hastings Prince Edward’s annual campaign.
Plant Manager Mutazz Akour says P&G employees step up every year.
“The big part of this is really the employees, like their donation and commitment, that P&G actually matches their donations.”
He says they are happy to help every year.
“It’s a big amount of money but I don’t think it’s, like, it’s even sufficient. I mean, we know that it’s probably not sufficient so we keep actually encouraging ourselves to even do more.”
The United Way’s Executive Director Brandi Hodge says Procter and Gamble always provides a remarkable boost to the campaign each year.
Hodge says this year’s campaign is at more than $1.465 million with six weeks to go.
“We just closed our funding application process and we received applications for $500,000 more than we were able to allocate last year. So the need in our community is remarkably high. We’re going to do our very best to meet that. Procter and Gamble is a huge part of that. And so, $260,000 helps us get there for sure.”
The campaign goal for this year is $1.95 million.
Last year the United Way supported more than 50 organizations.
