Managing the ever-changing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic will be a priority focus for the City of Belleville, its staff, and all residents in the new year.
However, Mayor Mitch Panciuk says he expects a provincial government announcement to occur which would make room for a crucial transportation deverlopment to get started, known as the Belleville East Arterial Road.
“It’s really important because we need to make it easier for transport trucks to get in and out of the industrial park and also off of some of these roads that are residential”
Meanwhile Belleville city council finished off 2021 in December by passing a wide-ranging capital budget totalling a record $87 million.
Mayor Panciuk says he can’t wait to see the projects begin and slowly become a reality in the new year.
Panciuk says $44 million will be invested in new roads and existing road upgrades while about $26 million will boost recreational facilities and opportunities in the city.
“To give residents who live here more quality of life by having more activities and more services and more options in terms of particularly outdoor activities.”
