The province’s Special Investigations Unit has found no criminal offence was committed by a Lennox & Addington OPP officer in connection with a facial fracture suffered by a 37-year-old man in 2020.
On November 17 of last year the man was seen removing a package from his pocket and ingesting a substance through his nose while he was in a cell at the detachment in Napanee.
The officer conducted a takedown of the man when he would not comply and he was later diagnosed with a left-side facial fracture.
SIU Director Joseph Martino found insufficient evidence to show that the officer acted with excessive force.
