Just over half of the 170 active cases of COVID-19 in our region are unvaccinated individuals.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 30 new cases Wednesday.
In a Wednesday morning tweet, the health unit also reported that individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 22% of HPE’s total population and amount to 58% of active cases.
According the the public health dashboard, 12 of the day’s new cases are under the age of 18.
Belleville accounts for 13 of the new cases with seven each in Quinte West and Central Hastings along with one each in Prince Edward County, the Deseronto area and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
There is also a 22nd active outbreak – a Belleville manufacturing workplace where there are three cases.
Seven people are in the hospital with three in the ICU.
Seventy-eight percent of the local population aged five and up has received two doses of a COVID vaccine while 84% have received their first dose.
In Northumberland Wednesday, the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported three new cases and 11 active.
