Kids can better enjoy the outdoors with Come Alive
Outside’s HPE Winter Passport, which is available in Hastings Prince Edward throughout the winter
2021-2022.
This initiative is being produced in Prince Edward County and Belleville with the generous
support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), who provided Come Alive Outside $70,500 for
community initiates and events.
The passport contains 44 activities including “make your own
adventures”, local parks to visit, and community activities that children can do with the goal of
spending more time outside. Students work through as many activities as possible by following the
activity prompts and writing down their ideas in the booklet. Each month there are grand prize
drawings that students can win when their parents/guardians complete a survey.
“Outdoor physical activity is beneficial to the health and wellness of Ontario residents. Prince Edward
County-based Come Alive Outside has established itself as a leader in creating innovative spaces to
encourage that activity within our communities through pop-up play spaces and collaborative design
projects that incorporate nature,” said Todd Smith, MPP for Bay of Quinte.
Come Alive Outside is a not-for-profit organization based in Picton.. The mission of the
organization is to bring people together to create the awareness, intention, and opportunity for people
to live healthier lives outside.
