Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has released new student COVID screenings just weeks before students begin Christmas break.
Director of Education Katherine MacIver states in a press release issued Monday that rising case numbers have many people concerned and their intention is to keep students safe at school.
Beginning tomorrow (Tuesday), anyone must pass the provincial screening tool and the HPE Enhanced Screening tool before going to school.
The enhanced screening tool includes daily screening for sore throats, stuffy or runny nose, headache, pink eye or decreased appetite.
If a student answers yes to any symptoms, they must not attend school until the symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours.
Safety enhancements have also been made at schools including kindergarten students being required to have masks and strict cohorts inside the school.
