Quinte Health Care is pivoting in light of the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in Hastings Prince Edward.
A representative of QHC announced Friday that as of Tuesday, December 7 all visitors visiting QHC facilities will need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
The rule applies to any visitors over the age of 12 and according to a press release the steps are being taken to protect the most vulnerable.
Visitors must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination by a vaccine approved by Health Canada with the second shot of a two dose vaccine coming no earlier than 14 days before entering.
Unvaccinated visitors and care partners falling into an approved exception will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test using either a rapid antigen test administered upon entry or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test.
The release also specified that full vaccination or a negative test does not replace the need to adhere to strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols in QHC facilities.
