A tentative agreement has been reached between Hastings Prince Edward District School Board and its occasional elementary teachers.
The agreement with the 200 members of the Hastings and Prince Edward Occasional Teachers’ Local covers September 1, 2019 through August 31, 2022.
Details of the deal will not be made public until it is voted on by both sides in late January.
Occasional Teachers Local President Doug Thur says the agreement helps to address some of the concerns of members in a time of educational budget cuts across the province.
School Board Chair Lucille Kyle called elementary occasional teachers essential in educating students and said both teams negotiated for a lengthy period of time to come to agreeable terms.
