After a large jump in COVID-19 infections was reported Friday in Hastings and Prince Edward counties an even bigger increase was reported Monday.
Public health reports a total of 31 new infections with 25 of the positive tests being located in Belleville, five in Quinte West, and one in Prince Edward County.
There are now 72 active cases.
Sixteen cases were discovered in people who were fully vaccinated, 13 in unvaccinated people and two infections were discovered in partially vaccinated people.
Three people are being treated in hospital with one in the Intensive Care Unit.
Eighty-five percent of people in Hastings-Prince Edward aged 12 and up have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In Northumberland on Monday, the Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit reported four new cases and nine active.
Meanwhile Hastings Prince Edward District Public School Board reported Monday that another student has tested positive for COVID-19, this time at Bayside Secondary School.
However, the board says the student did not attend school or ride the bus during their infectious period and there is no risk of transmission from this case at school.
A letter has been emailed to Bayside families.
The public school board has reported several school cases over the last few days including six from Trenton High School, three at Trent River Public School and one at Park Dale School in Belleville.
All schools remain open.
