The Frankford Huskies were unable to chalk up their first ever win Saturday night, falling 5-2 to the Amherstview Jets.
The Jets jumped out to a lead in the first when forward Nicholas Deichmann scored his second of the year one minute into the game.
The Huskies pushed back and were rewarded with just over five minutes left in the period when Garrett Bird was set up for his second of the year by Phoenix Smith to tie the game at one.
Exactly two minutes later Hunter Cooney scored his second of the year on a feed from Carter Musclow to take a 2-1 Frankford lead into the intermission.
Despite a rare lead for the Huskies, the Jets took control of the game in the second period.
Jack McKenzie and Jack Kauffeldt both scored shorthanded and Dawson Frost added an even strength goal in the second period to make it 4-2 for the Jets heading into the second intermission.
Despite having 8 minutes of power play time in the second, the Huskies were unable to capitalize.
In the third period defenceman Jack Wiley put home his first goal of the season into the empty net to ice the game, sealing a 5-2 win for the Amherstview Jets.
Huskies goaltender Andrei Ballack was busy all night in the crease, stopping 44 of 48 shots faced in the losing effort.
With the loss, Frankford falls to 0-12-2 on the year.
The Huskies now turn to the Port Hope Panthers who they’ll visit on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
