A big project ensuring a stable electricity supply in the City of Belleville is getting underway.
Monday, a representative from the province’s Independent Electricity System Operator told city council that after consultations with Elexicon Energy and Hydro One it was agreed that a second step-down transformer station needed to be built by 2025.
The new station would help meet increasing demand for power in the City of Belleville as its projected demand will increase by one percent a year for the next 20 years.
The second transformer station would cost between $35 and $40 million to build.
