Home sales across the Quinte region last month were down more than 20% from the same month the year before but year to date sales are still up significantly over 2020.
The Quinte & District Association of Realtors says 322 units were sold last month.
That was a decrease of 21.8% from 2020 but still good enough for the second highest October on record.
Year to date sales are up 27.6% over last year.
The association says 4,156 homes changed hands over the first 10 months of the year.
President Don McColl says while demand is still high, overall supply levels are edging towards new lows and without any meaningful influx of new listings in the near future, sales could suffer.
There were 355 active listings for the entire region at the end of October.
Active listings haven’t been this low in the month of October in more than three decades.
Home prices remain high with the average price of homes sold last month reaching just over $643,000, an increase of 31.3% from October 2020.
The more comprehensive year to date average price was $617,202, a jump of 40% from the first 10 months of 2020.
