Belleville police have release compiled data detailing how charges laid in 2020 were split between residents and non-residents of the city.
According to the data there were 4,444 charges laid by Belleville Police in 2020.
Of those charges, 49% or 2,162 were residents of Belleville while 2,052 or 46%, were laid on non-residents mainly from areas including Kingston, Trenton, Quinte West and Stirling.
A vast majority of the charges laid against residents and non-residents were Highway Traffic Act offences.
Residents accounted for 1,493 HTA offences while non-residents were charged 1,577 times.
The data also indicates that most of the charges laid against people listed under “no fixed address” were criminal offences.
Outside of Belleville residents, there were 284 charges laid against residents of Trenton, 187 charges laid against residents of Quinte West, and 201 charges laid against people with no fixed address, followed by a list of smaller numbers from various other places in the surrounding area.
