A victim of an assault in the 1970s has asked for the court to publish the name of his attacker in case there are more victims.
Monday, 82-year-old James Terry was convicted of indecent assault in an incident involving a male member of the air cadets with the Belleville Armouries in the mid-1970s.
The victim told court he joined the cadets sometime around 1974 and while away at camp was assaulted in a washroom in the middle of the night.
Terry was sentenced to a suspended sentence plus two years probation and given several conditions including no contact with the victim, counselling for sexual offending, his name added to the sexual offender registry and to not be with a child under the age of 16 unless that child is with an adult who is aware of the conviction.
Crown Attorney Lee Burgess says the victim specifically asked the court to allow Terry’s name to be published in case there are other victims.
