It was too little too late for the Wellington Dukes as they dropped a 5-4 decision to the St. Michaels Buzzers in Toronto.
Wellington scored twice in the final 3:52 of the third period to make it close.
Jacob Vreugdenhill led the Dukes with a goal and an assist.
Cameron Kosurko, Ethan Quick and Liam Whittaker scored the others.
The Buzzers outshot the Dukes 28-23.
Wellington is 2-1-1 in the new OJHL season.
The game kicked off a busy week for the Dukes. They travel to Lindsay Tuesday afternoon followed by a night game Wednesday in North York.
On Friday Wellington hosts the Trenton Golden Hawks in the first meeting in the “Battle of Quinte” this season.
