The Stirling District Minor Hockey Association is one of 10 associations across Ontario to benefit from a new Player Assist Program.
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association says the pilot project will eliminate the cost of equipment for 350 families throughout the province who have players under the age of seven entering the game.
The associations will retain the equipment at the end of the hockey season to loan to players in following years.
Stirling is receiving 35 sets of equipment.
The program, sponsored by the Egg Farmers of Ontario was developed to help families struggling financially due to COVID-19.
