Health Canada says Teva Canada is voluntarily recalling two lots of its Novo-Gesic Forte Acetaminophen tablets because of a labelling error that could result in someone exceeding the maximum daily dosage.
The 500-milligram tablets were sold in Canada in bottles containing 100 or 1,000 caplets beginning August 3, and have an expiration date of June 2023.
The label on the affected bottles incorrectly states “do not take more than 4,000 mg (12 tablets) in 24 hours” but the correct number of tablets should be eight.
Health Canada says consumers who follow the incorrect directions could experience symptoms of acetaminophen overdose, which include nausea, vomiting, sweating, and pain in the upper abdomen or stomach.
