Belleville’s Economic and Strategic Initiatives Manager is expecting a large turnout of job seekers at next month’s Quinte Region Career Fair.
At Wednesday’s meeting of the Economic and Destination Development Committee, Karen Poste said the job fair is coming up November 17 at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
She says the fair was postponed from September because they expect more people to be job hunting once pandemic-related federal assistance programs end later this month.
However, postponing the fair has been difficult for employers, many of whom are in desperate need of workers.
“Because we had to delay the job fair to November, we have ramped up our marketing activities on our Work in Belleville program. So we’re working with our media partners to advertise the Work in Belleville program, solicit as many resumes as we can possibly get from folks who are looking for work in the region.”
Poste says they’ve had an influx of resumes over the past few weeks but would love to see more.
