Quinte Health Care has made its position clear on vaccinations for physicians and staff working at its four hospitals.
QHC management is mandating that everyone be fully vaccinated by October 31.
In a press release QHC says while management appreciates some people might want to make personal decisions regarding vaccinations, its first obligation is to maximize protection against infection for patients and staff against the Delta variant.
The statement closes by stating that management “hopes everyone chooses to be vaccinated and remain part of the QHC team.”
Ninety-eight percent of physicians and 92% of other staff are now fully vaccinated at Quinte Health Care.
For QHC staff who decide not to get vaccinated by the end of October, Communications Director Catherine Walker tells Quinte News that they will initially be placed on an unpaid leave of absence for 14 days, after which they will face additional consequences which could include termination of employment.
