One of the main architects that helped bring the Belleville Senators to the City of Belleville is calling it a career.
The municipality says Belleville’s Director Recreation, Culture and Community Services Mark Fluhrer is retiring.
C.A.O Rod Bovay says, “Mark has worked hard and accomplished a number of achievements during his 12 years with the City of Belleville. We wish him well in his retirement.”
Fluhrer says, “I want to thank the City of Belleville for the opportunity to serve this great community. It has been both an honour and privilege to work with many special people and I thank them for their support. Lastly, I want to thank the people of Belleville for your kindness and support these past years.”
For over a year, Fluhrer worked as one of the centrepieces to help bring hockey back to the municipality, following the loss of the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League.
For the last few years Fluhrer has been on leave from the city, however the reasons have not been made public.
