Trenton, ON, September 13th, 2021 – Former Trenton Doctor Welcomed Home
Last week, Docs By The Bay Physician Recruitment and Retention announced the signing of Dr. Stephen Evans to Medical Service Agreements with the City of Quinte West and the Municipality of Brighton. Dr. Evans will be practising family medicine in both communities beginning later this year. He will be assuming the practices of retiring physicians Dr. Michael Shirriff in Trenton and Dr. Arlene MacIntyre in Brighton. In addition, Dr. Evans will assume physician responsibility for the Maplewood Long-Term Care Home in Brighton.
Today, at Trenton Memorial Hospital, Dr. Evans was welcomed “home” to the community where he first started practicing family medicine over 20 years ago. Paula Mason, Manager of Physician Recruitment, introduced Dr. Evans and his wife Linda, to officials from both Quinte West and Brighton. “The recruitment of Dr. Evans was a combined effort of the two municipalities working together to meet the healthcare needs of their residents,” Mason remarked.
Dr. Evans met Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison and Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander, along with Councillors Michael Kotsovos and Sally Freeman of Quinte West and Councillor Ron Anderson of Brighton. These councillors are also members of the Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee.
Dr. Evans paid thanks to those who made his recruitment possible, including Mason, Dr. Stephen Kaladeen and his wife Jean, Bob Casselman, Brighton CAO and David Clazie, Quinte West CAO, saying “These folks never gave up on me, as they worked together for nearly 3 years to make my return possible.”
Patients of Dr. MacIntyre will need to register with Dr. Evans by attending the office at 22 Dundas Street in Brighton, between 9am-11am or 2pm-4pm weekdays until the end of September. Please ensure you have your valid health card with you. Patients of Dr. Shirriff will be automatically registered.
