The Belleville Police Service responded to 79 calls from September 10, 2021 at 5 a.m. to September 11, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Breach of Release Order
On September 10, 2021 at approximately 8 p.m., police attended a northern highway from the city regarding a male stumbling on the curb. Upon arrival, police recognized the male to be wanted by Belleville police for failing to comply with his release order. The male was on a release order with 14 drug- and property-related charges. The 38-year-old Belleville man was arrested and held for a show cause hearing on the September 11.
Drug Charges
On September 11, 2021 at 12:25 a.m., police attended the area of North Front Street regarding a traffic complaint. Police found a similar vehicle as reported and upon conducting a traffic stop and investigating, a male and female were subsequently found to be in possession of drugs. Eighteen-year-old Mikaela Young of Oshawa was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and 43-year-old Steven Smart of Belleville was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and a traffic offence. Both were released with a court date of October 18.
