Customers at a local grocery store have rounded up their bills to help back the build of the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.
Shoppers at Metro in Picton helped raise $16,781 to go towards the new hospital during a fundraising blitz between July 29 and August 11.
Metro is also matching those donations up to $5,000.
The store is in the second year of a four-year commitment to fundraising for the PEC Memorial Hospital Foundation and has so far raised more than $33,400.
Ground breaking for the new $80 million hospital in Picton is expected in 2024, with the hospital planned to be open in 2027.
The PECMHF has been tasked with raising the community share of the project, which is about $16.5 million.
