Local realtors in the Quinte Region were busy in August with the area seeing the second highest sales numbers on record for that month.
The Quinte and District Assocation of Realtors says there were 403 homes sold in the region last month, which is down 6.1% from August of 2020, but still about 17% above the five-year average for the month.
While the number of units sold was down comapred to August of last year, the dollar value of home sales last month broke a record, totalling $240.9 million.
The year-to-date home sales numbers have set a record, with 3,442 units sold over the first eight months of the year, a 41.9% jump from the same period in 2020.
The average price of a home is up 34.5% from last August, at $495,700, with the average sale price at $597,828.
