With Labour Day approaching and a federal election not far off, the Quinte Labour Council is calling for a strong pandemic recovery that includes a plan for replacing lost jobs with better ones.
A press release from the local group says workers are at the heart of pandemic recovery.
Quinte Labour Council President Marg Bourgoin says the upcoming federal election is an opportunity to hold political leaders accountable and demand better jobs and better social programs as the country recovers from the pandemic.
Bourgoin says the recovery must be built on good jobs that offer decent wages, benefits and a path to unionization and also strengthens the public health care system.
She adds, “Workers kept us all afloat through this incredibly difficult time by keeping us fed, healthy, housed and supported.”
