A child care centre is being added to Brighton Public School.
The provincial government has approved the $1.2 million investment for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board as part of its plan to build more child care spaces.
Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini says child care is critically important to working parents and will be key to driving Ontario’s economic recovery.
The new centre will have 10 new licensed child care spaces.
School Board Chair Diane Lloyd says providing wrap-around service for families, from preschool to graduation is a priority for the board.
Northumberland County is also contributing $350,000 toward the addition of a kitchen.
