Rogers says it is investing $140 million in the Quinte Region to bring high speed internet and expanded television service to residents.
The addition of Rogers fibre-to-home technology will give 20,000 homes in Belleville, Quinte West and Prince Edward County access to Rogers’ full suite of Ignite internet and TV services.
Local mayors have reacted positively to the news with Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk calling the upgrades “a key service to keep us current and competitive.”
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says the upgrades “will allow our residents and businesses to thrive in a world that increasingly relies on high-speed internet”, while Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson echoed that sentiment, calling fast and reliable internet a “critical piece of infrastructure in the 21st century.”
There is no word yet on when those upgrades will be completed.
