There is some good news for those waiting for high-speed internet access in a handful of areas in the Quinte Region.
MPP Daryl Kramp and Ontario Minister of Infrastructure King Surma have announced a $14.7 million investment into 13 high-speed internet and cellular projects across the province, including more than $7.6 million locally.
The approved projects will serve more than 8,000 households in Stirling-Rawdon, Tweed, Centre Hastings, Bancroft and Tamworth, with Kramp calling the investment “another major step forward in our area and for all in Eastern Ontario that has dealt with poor or non-existent high-speed connectivity for far too long.”
The projects, which were submitted through the Improving Connectivity for Ontario, or ICON program, will start the procurement process this summer.
