Brighton council will be talking to the province’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry about assuming ownership of the Brighton Provincial Wildlife Area.
The province owns the land, which is just north of the 401 along Coltman Road.
Mayor of Brighton Brian Ostrander says council believes the land has a lot of potential.
“We would want to make it a more active area for trails … various trails, walking, biking, perhaps even horseback riding, that kind of thing.”
As it stands, there are rough trails in the Wildlife Area but the property receives very little maintenance.
