Quinte West staff will be putting forth an application for funding for the Centennial Park Boat Launch project.
At Monday’s Quinte West council meeting, council approved a staff report recommending they seek funding through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund.
The funding stream was recently announced by the federal government and is intended to “help communities across Canada build and improve community infrastructure projects so they can rebound from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The projects that will be considered are:
- Revitalization of downtown cores and main streets
- Reinventing of outdoor spaces
- Creation of green infrastructure
- Increasing accessibility of community spaces
According to the staff report priority will be given to projects that are “shovel ready.”
Council approved the $2.8 million project under the 2021 capital budget discussions. The project would see the dredging of the area in front of the existing ramps, the construction of new launch ramps, installation of two new boarding docks and parking lot improvements.
The existing three single ramps would be replaced with two double lane launch ramps which would add one extra launching lane.
The maximum amount of funding the project could receive through the federal government is $750,000 according to the staff report.
