Quinte Conservation is pleased to have been able to hire student staff this year thanks to grants generously provided by Canada Summer Jobs and Project Learning Tree.
Corporate Services Manager, Tammy Smith, says, “We are extremely grateful to have received close to $80,000 in funding toward hiring 15 students throughout various departments.”
Successful applicants between the ages of 15 to 30 were hired to work in jobs relevant to their field of studies, thus furthering their knowledge, gaining valuable experience, and fostering relationships with professionals in the world of conservation.
Smith adds, “Over the course of their 16-week-long contracts, these students are able to gain real hands-on experience and knowledge in important conservation fields.”
The positions in these fields offer the opportunity for students to help the organization while developing skills that are relevant to their respective education programs. Some of the staff members that benefitted from extra support include the Aquatic Biology Technician, Reception Clerk, Civil Engineering Technician, and Education and Stewardship Officer.
