Almost five million dollars in construction was started in the City of Belleville in June but that is well down from a year ago.
The City issued 81 building permits worth $4.9 million with the majority of them related to residential work.
In June of 2020, 89 permits with a construction value of $18.2 million were issued.
However, the year-to-date value is up, with $49.3 million dollars worth of construction for the first six months of this year compared to $43.6 million for the first half of 2020.
