UPDATE (5:10 p.m.): Belleville police say the eastbound centre lane on Dundas Street is now open and the eastbound curb lane will remain closed until the construction can be resolved. They also say the gas has been turned off and it is safe to pass through.
UPDATE (4:50 p.m.): Belleville Police are now reporting that the westbound lanes of Dundas Street are reopened.
A section of Dundas Street East in Belleville has been closed as crews repair a natural gas leak.
Reports of the leak came in around 3:15 p.m. saying the pipe was ruptured by an excavator working in the area.
Belleville firefighters and police were called, as were Union Gas and Enbridge Gas, and Dundas Street East has been closed between Burnham Street and Bleecker Avenue.
