A drop-in program at Bridge Street United Church is set to support people experiencing homelessness or financial challenges.
The program will operate at the church seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
People in need can stop by, get a shower, do laundry, get something to eat and have access to phones and wi-fi. There are daily hot meals and on-site nursing available for health issues.
There will also be mental health and harm reduction services in place.
The program is run by the John Howard Society in collaboration with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health and the Grace Inn Shelter.
The program originally operated at 21 Wallbridge Crescent but renovations to the church, supported by the John W. and Bernice Parrott Foundation, have allowed the program to operate in a larger capacity.
The renovations include upgraded ventilation in the gymnasium and the installation of showers and laundry facilities.
The program is funded by Hastings County Community and Human Services and the City of Belleville social infrastructure fund.
