On Thursday, June 17, 2021, shortly before 7:00 p.m., members of the Prince Edward County OPP received information that an individual wanted by Winnipeg RCMP was at a residence on Massassauga Road in Ameliasburgh Ward, Prince Edward County.
The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team, Canine and OPP Crisis Negotiators executed a warrant to enter a dwelling at the home early in the morning of June 18, 2021.
While officers were attempting to gain entry to the residence they were met with gunfire from within the residence.
With the assistance of the crisis negotiators, two individuals surrendered to police.
One of the individuals, Eric WILDMAN 34 years of age, was taken into custody by the Tactics and Rescue Unit.
The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch under the direction of a Major Case Manager, are now investigating the attempted murder of OPP officers.
The focus of the investigation remains on the Massassauga Road residence where police activity will continue in the coming days.
