Belleville Council has approved some much-needed infrastructure work in the east end.
A contract worth about $7.7 million was awarded to Gordon Barr Limited of Kingston on Monday for the reconstruction of Herchimer Avenue, between Dundas Street East and Keegan Parkway.
The project includes a full rebuild of the Dundas and Herchimer intersection, along with watermain reconstruction, a new stormwater management facility and road work.
The intersection work and reconstruction south of the train tracks is expected to be finished this year, while the middle section between Dundas and the train tracks should be done in 2022.
The work also includes some watermain reconstruction on Dundas from Herchimer to Bradgate Road.
