Quinte Broadcasting (CJBQ, MIX97, ROCK107) in partnership with the family of the late Maurice Rollins and the Enrichment Centre for Mental Health is proud to present a Maurice Rollins Day of Remembrance this Wednesday, June 16 2021.
Successful businessman and philanthropist Maurice Rollins passed away June 3 at the age of 94. Although a hard driving entrepreneur who built a construction company, a hotel chain and other businesses, Rollins dealt with mental health issues on occasion throughout his life.
He was not afraid to talk about his struggles and donated generously to mental health causes as well as many other charitable endeavors in the Quinte region.
Wednesday Quinte Broadcasting stations will present a special day of broadcasting in an effort to bring awareness to the increasing numbers of people faced with mental health issues and the effects of them on their lives and on the wider community.
And just as important, the Maurice Rollins Day of Remembrance will also serve as a fundraiser for a non-profit organization that serves those with mental health challenges, the Enrichment Centre for Mental Health located in Belleville.
Listeners will be asked to call the Enrichment Centre at 613-969-8874 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday to make a donation.
The Rollins family has pledged to match donations from the public up to a maximum of $50,000.
Quinte Broadcasting’s Jack Miller will kick off the Maurice Rollins Day of Remembrance after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
