The Quinte West OPP has charged the driver of a vehicle after a routine check.
On June 11, 2021 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP officers on patrol observed a vehicle stopped on the side of Highway 2 in Trenton with its four-way lights activated. After checking on the driver, it was determined that she had an active arrest warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints. Following the arrest of the driver, officers located a quantity of suspected cocaine within the vehicle.
Debra SMID, 44 years old of Quinte West has been charged with possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine and failure to comply with an undertaking.
She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of Justice in Belleville on July 22, 2021.
