The Hastings County Community and Human Services paid tribute to its retiring director during its virtual meeting on Wednesday.
Erin Rivers retires June 23 after 30 years with the county.
Committee chair Bonnie Adams paid tribute to Rivers’ work ethic in social services and “her vast knowledge related to helping and serving residents.”
Adams noted the sign on Rivers’ desk which states, “Work hard and be kind.”
Rivers replied, ”
“So very fortunate to have had such a wonderful career here at Hastings County. I’ve had the rich experience of challenging work. The opportunity to work with so many fantastic people, and the support of this committee has meant so much to me.”
Quinte West Councillor Terry Cassidy added his tribute, “It’s a tough job. You have to balance so many things, business things.”
“The kindness that you’ve shown to people that were really struggling in desperate times. Your own personal kindness was outstanding and will always be remembered by me and the people that received that.”
Suzanne Ritchie-Raymond will take over the position of director.
